Add Information Technology Sessions to your next meeting

IT and Marketing – Like peanut butter and chocolate!!

It is a combination meant to be.  Let’s explore what these two are doing for the practice separately and how much better it can be when they are thought of together.  Time is spent developing a marketing strategy but many practices are missing a crucial connection.  What are some of the struggles heard from staff when asked about the practice website, social media, pet portal, texting?  How do we get clients engaged in what the offers are?  We are more and more dependent on our IT infrastructure and marketing plans.  How do you make sure these items work well together?  We will explore several aspects to this topic.  Moving into today’s new technical marketplace.

Points of Failure and Affording the Technology you need in practice.

With over 90 points of failure identified within an IT infrastructure possible within a Veterinary practice, how does your practice fit into this mix and what is your risk?  Do you know what your down time tolerance is or why you should know this? Do you know how the answer to that question can impact your infrastructure design?  What budget have you set for your practice as it relates to your electronic infrastructure?   This session will cover the points of failure and preventative measures that can be taken to avoid business interruption.  What should you do to retrofit your existing practice and if you are planning a new facility or a remodel, now is the time to evaluate where you stand.

Exploring Practice Software options – New or Update - Server or Cloud

Years ago, decisions were made and the same software is in the practice today. The practice is not the same as it was year ago.  Frustrations arise, complaints from the staff are tossed around.  Does this mean it is time for a change?  Maybe, maybe not.  Take a look at some of the features that are on the market today, what features may be in the product you own? What features do you need to move your practice to the next level?  Do you stay with your server based software, do you move your software to the cloud or do you change software totally, cloud or server?  There are many questions that would need to be explored and it is important to do your research both on your needs and also the products available.  This session will explore many options that are available without pointing in one direction or the other.  The discussion needs to be started early, so that you are fully vetting any and all options.  This session will help you develop the process for choosing to stay or pick new.

Don’t let technology be a barrier in your practice

Explore the common technology hiccups that can occur in practice. When interruptions happen, staff time is lost. This is a very valuable resource in your practice.  Learn strategies to pick up on trouble spots that may be occurring in your practice today. What can be done about them, and how to best optimize your resources and technology as it relates to client/patient workflow.  Every day the practice hums along. Doctors go about their busy schedule. Office managers have their tasks but imaging being a fly on the wall, what would that fly detect?

They don’t want your data, you do!

Did you know as many as 9 out of 10 practices are not backing up something important?  Something you can’t recreate or reinvent?  As we move into a more paper free environment, data protection is more important than ever. It is frightening to see statistics like; 93% of companies that lost their data center for 10 days or more due to a disaster filed for bankruptcy within one year of the disaster. Or like; 50% of businesses that found themselves without data management for this same time period filed for bankruptcy immediately. (National Archives & Records Administration in Washington).

Protecting your data is more than getting a good backup. Addressing the fear of going paperless; after all, what is protecting all those paper files behind the counter?  There are threats longing to take the data from your practice? Some may be right at the front desk. This session will address different technology and ways to protect your data, pros and cons of each.

Technology for the Front Office Staff

Though most front staff does not have any control over choosing technology, they are faced with it every day. Understanding more about technology and how it can make or break their day is important. What kind of things to look for to help management staff avoid downtime. What processes and protocols can they help with that may keep technology from turning their day upside down. Help develop an SOP to avoid wasted staff time. They play a larger role in some practices than others but this session is basic and beneficial to everyone.
